Henderson Road Construction to May be Delayed.

Major improvements are coming to Henderson Road between High Street and S.R. 315 may be delayed because construction cannot begin until Columbia Gas completes relocating gas lines in the project area.  The City of Columbus is currently consider two options, 1) starting in July completing part of the project this year and completing the remainder of the project next spring or 2) delaying the project until the spring of 2009.  A decision is expected before the end of the month.  The $4.6 million investment will result in a smooth new more pedestrian and bike friendly roadway.

The road will be completely reconstructed, with new curbs, traffic signals, water lines and drainage improvements. Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s commitment to sidewalks and bicycle access is reflected in this project. The sidewalk on the south of Henderson will be widened from 5 feet to 8 feet, making it a multi-use path. This will provide better access for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling along Henderson and improve the flow of bike and pedestrian traffic, where the Olentangy Trail meets Henderson.  For more about the project and the meeting go to May Newsletter
