Creative Educator Will Keynote Student Citizen Event
Chamber Will Honor 33 Students

Scholarship, Citizenship, and Community Involvement will be the theme
on Tuesday, April 24th, when the Chamber hosts its annual “Student
Citizen Breakfast” at the Midwest Hotel and Conference Center on
Sinclair Rd. The Chamber and member business sponsors will host
thirty-three Clintonville middle school students and their parents at
the event. Students to be honored will be from Dominion Middle
School, Calumet Christian School, Clintonville Academy, Our Lady of
Peace School, and Immaculate Conception School.
Keynote speaker for the event will be
Mimi
Brodsky Chenfeld, internationally known educator, author and artist.
Mimi's special love, besides kids, is "creative education" -
integrating the arts with every aspect of the curriculum, with an
emphasis on movement and writing. She travels extensively to "be
with" teachers, university students, and parents across the country.
Mimi is a regular guest on WOSU AM's Open Line program focusing on
Creative Education. Inspiring all her work are these favorite words:
"All of my children are prodigies." (Yiddish proverb) "The lesson that
is not enjoyed is not learned." (Talmud)
. A 3rd edition of her text
''Creative Experiences for Young Children''
was published in 2002 by Heinemann Press.
This year, in addition to receiving their certificates of achievement
from their business sponsors, students will also receive a special
medal. Both student and medal sponsorships are still available, and
interested businesses should contact the Chamber office at 262-2790
regarding sponsorship opportunities.
