Chamber Launches New Limited Health Care Benefit

Members Will Have Additional Option

The Clintonville Chamber has joined with one of our member firms, Strategic Business Services, to offer a new limited health care benefit for our members.  The program is being offered by Pan      American Life Insurance in conjunction with SBS and USNow.

This program does not replace the Chamber’s Anthem Blue Cross major medical program, but it is designed to assist employers in providing some health care coverage for part-time or uncovered employees.   This limited benefit features medical, dental and vision coverage on a limited basis.  It covers office visits, outpatient lab and x-ray, wellness care, hospital stays, intensive care and surgical.

The dental program covers oral exams and bitewing x-rays, and offers discounts for over 170 dental procedures.

One of the major benefits of the plan for new enrollees, is that it requires no medical history questions, and there are no exclusions for preexisting conditions. The application process is done entirely on-line.   The plan also offers two levels of service.  The Bronze Plan and the Platinum Plan.  Each offers a different level of coverage.

The programs vision plan offers varying discounts for services and eyeglasses at over 7,300 providers nationwide.

Finally, the plans prescription card provides discounts for both generic and preferred brand drugs.   Again, the large pharmacy network in the program means easy access for your employees.

To learn more about this new program and to determine how it can help your employees, contact Tom Paplaczyk of Strategic Business Services, 889-0250.

COTA CEO Is June 21st Luncheon Speaker

Long Range Plan and Other Issues to be Discussed

The High Street #2 bus is still COTA’s most traveled route. Clintonville has a number of new bus shelters.  The light rail plan has been shelved.  COTA’s long range plan calls for more service for areas such as Graceland.

COTA CEO Bill Lhota will be the featured speaker at the Chamber’s June 21st luncheon at the Clintonville Woman’s Club starting at 11:30 am.

Lhota will address the transit authority’s Long Range Plan and other issues. Since the passage of the COTA Tax Levy last year, transit authority leaders have been working to update the plan.  They have also started a “Community Report Card” program which allows riders to provide feed back to the COTA Board and management.

As a result the top five areas of concern for COTA riders were  1) more service, 2) On-time service 3) Safety, security, maintenance,

4) Improved customer service, 5) Timely communications.

Luncheon reservations can be made by calling the Chamber office at 262-2790, or email: jnini@clintonvillechamber.com.

As always space will be available for Chamber members to provide information about their business for those attending the luncheon.  Chamber luncheons are a great networking opportunity. Plan to be there

Chamber Members Partner for Networking

Manley, Weiland’s & Shaklee Host Event

By Leslie Birdwell for the Chamber Notes.

Worthington came to Clintonville on April 18th for a unique evening at Manley Architecture at 3820 North High Street. The occasion was the Worthington Chamber’s Business After Hours.  The evening provided the perfect opportunity for Worthington members to network with Clintonville Chamber Board members and vice-versa.

The theme was Green. Green design, sustainable living, environmentally-friendly products, organic food, and all things good for the earth were highlighted by Manley, Bob and Judy Robertson of Shaklee, and Weiland’s Gourmet Market. Door prizes for the event included one of Judy’s “Get Clean” kits and tree saplings for all attendees. Manley contributed a green iPod shuffle.

Cathy Van Volkenburg of Manley Architecture had wanted to do something like this for some time. “I wanted a special Clintonville event,” she said, “and between Weiland’s food and Judy’s contribution, we really pulled it off!  Working with Chamber members really makes a difference.”

The event was an example of Chamber members partnering to enhance their respective businesses – and think of the possibilities and potential arising from cross-chamber cooperation! These kinds of creative promotion and networking events are limited only by the imagination of our members. Stay tuned for an October event that will feature both Upper Arlington and Clintonville chambers
