Chamber to Honor Trio At Annual Recognition Dinner

Brenda Pinnell, C.A.R.S. Staff Betsy Hubbard
Two individuals and a Clintonville business will be honored at the
Chamber’s Annual Recognition Dinner and Silent Auction on March 18th
at the University Plaza.
Brenda
Pinnell of Bernie’s Garage has been named the “Business Person of the
Year” and Clintonville Automotive Repair Service (C.A.R.S.) has been
named the “Business of the Year” by the Chamber. The Booster
“Community Volunteer of the Year” will be Betsy Hubbard of Longview
Ave.
Pinnell is a Past Chair of the Board of the Chamber and currently
chairperson of the Chamber’s very successful “Cruise the Ville”
event. “Brenda has always been a very active Chamber leader,” said
Scott Smith, Chairman of this years dinner, “but her leadership during
last year’s High Street Improvement project certainly made her very
deserving of this award. Her positive approach to the project, both
with her own customers and with other High Street business owners was
simply outstanding.”
“C.A.R.S. is one of those businesses that has been part of the fabric
of Clintonville for many years,” said Shari Carroll, Chamber Chair of
the Board. “Ron Stein and all of his employees quietly go about the
business of making Clintonville a better place. Like our past
winners, they are very deserving and it is our pleasure to honor them
for their service.” C.A.R.S. has been in business in Clintonville
since 1962.
Betsy
Hubbard is a former Clintonville Area Commission, who gave up her seat
to focus her efforts on the Whetstone Renovation Initiative. She is
the chair person of the group that is assisting the city Recreation
and Parks Department with planning for the $1.2 million renovation of
the Whetstone Rec Center. She also volunteers at Clinton Elementary
School.
In addition to the awards presentations, the Chamber will hold a
Silent Auction as part of the gala evening. Dinner attendees will be
able to bid on a variety of unique items and services that have been
donated by Chamber members. Click here for a list of items that have

The
Busyness of Business…
Today I discovered that the
busier I am, the less attention I pay to details. Things like
putting the correct date on the flyer, forgetting to write down the
correct appointment time. I never understood the connection to the
busyness of business until today. After 3 incidents in a row (it
always comes in 3″s !) I realized I need to take a well deserved
pause….
I sing about this in one of my
songs…it’s beautiful to do nothing and then just take a break! (sung
in blues style) It’s even more beautiful to be really productive and
then take one! Perhaps the pattern I was in , now exposed, can
recede in to the past, as I create what I want. I am accountable to
details, in a joyful way. I am busy and detailed. I am changing this
as I write this.
Today, I can create what tomorrow
will bring, I only need a few pauses now and then. The pause creates
clarity. So right now I am going to take one! Join me for a few
breaths, a moment of silence in the mind….enjoy!
