Kelley & Weaver Join Chamber Board of Directors

The Chamber Board of Directors elected two new members at its October meeting.

John Kelley

Involvement with Chamber’s is not new for John Kelley.  His company belongs to nine central Ohio Chambers and John and his staff are active in all of them.  However, he feels the Clintonville Chamber ranks in the top two when it comes to providing opportunities for its members to learn from each other and  Kelley and his wife Gail opened the Two Men and Truck moving business sixteen years ago.  The firm has continued to grow and was recently recognized as the top franchise of the 212 in the Two Men and A Truck system.  The company was the sponsor of the Touch-A-Truck display at this year’s Cruise the Ville.

As a Board member Kelley would like to help the Chamber continue to grow its membership and plans to become involved with the Government Action committee. When not running is business he is an avid volleyball player and woodworker.  The Kelley’s have been Clintonville residents since 1993.

Gary Weaver

Gary has been a Clintonville resident for 29 years and brought 36 years of experience in the banking industry to the new KEMBA Financial Credit Union Clintonville office at the corner of High St. and Cooke Rd.

“It has been an exciting year with the opening of our new building,” Weaver told the Chamber Notes.   But despite all of the details surrounding that event, Weaver has found time to be a Chamber Ambassador.  “The networking opportunities and involvement with the Chamber are exceptional.  For those who participate, it is a very positive business experience.”   As a Board member Weaver wants to continue the Chamber’s growth and work with other Clintonville companies to continue to improve the local business climate.

In his spare time Gary and his wife Vicki Spencer enjoy traveling and hiking.

Congratulations to both John and Gary on their election to the Board.

Mayor Dedicates "Milton Bike Boulevard" in Clintonville

Flanked by dozens of bicyclists and community leaders, Mayor Michael B. Coleman, City Council member Maryellen O’Shaughnessy and County Engineer Dean Ringle (pictured right) celebrated the opening of the Milton Avenue Bike Boulevard, the first of its kind in Columbus. The Milton Avenue Bike Boulevard is actually a series of streets – Kenworth, Milton, Delhi – that make up the missing gap in the Olentangy Trail, the busiest biking, hiking and walking trail in Ohio. Through signage and pavement tattoos, bike boulevards give priority to cyclists and alert motorists to their presence “As an avid biker I am pleased to see the city’s continued commitment to those who choose to travel on two wheels, whether for exercise or as a primary mode of transportation,” said Columbus City Council member Maryellen O’Shaughnessy.

Ask the Expert, Business Interruption Insurance

by Scott Egelhoff, CIC, Insurance Agencies of Ohio

Dear Scott,

My business was shut down due to the recent power outage.  I have business interruption insurance, but my agent said I'm not covered?  Can you explain?

John

Dear John,

You, along with many other business owners, are getting the same answers.  All of these could have been avoided if a special endorsement called the Utility Services - Time Element was added and the "overhead power lines" box was checked.  Most business interruption insurance provides coverage for loss of income due to direct physical loss at your premises.  Some policies go a step further and provide coverage for direct physical loss to utility services which provide service to your premises, but not necessarily located at your premises, such as transformers, switching stations, and substations.  Unfortunately, overhead power lines are excluded. Without that special endorsement, coverage most likely won't be provided.  I think you'll see that most businesses suffered loss of income due to no direct damage and downed power lines.  Hope his helps.

Scott

Advertise in the 2009

Clintonville Community

Directory!

If you want to reach the Clintonville market, the place to be is in the 2009 Clintonville Community Directory’s 10th Anniversary edition.  The Directory is one of the Chamber’s most successful projects.  Each year the Chamber prints 14,000 copies of our “community phonebook” and delivers 12,000 copies to each resident and business in Clintonville.  The yellow pages portion is exclusively Chamber members.  While as a benefit of membership, all members are listed in the yellow pages and receive a bold listing in the white pages section, you can enhance your listings with display advertising.

Advertising rates in the Clintonville Community Directory range from $700 for a full page, to $260 for an 1/8th of a page, with several options in between.  Rates for the full color back cover are also available on request.

The Directory is a proven marketing tool.  It’s unique size and larger listing type face make it a publication that Clintonville residents look forward to each spring.  The advertising deadline is November 15th, so reserve your space in the 2009 Directory today.  (For Order form click HERE).

If you have questions about the directory or need assistance with preparation of your ad, contact the Chamber office at 262-2790.

The Directory will be delivered in March of 2009.
