Rain Doesn’t Dampen Cruise Enthusiasm In the Park!

Cruise the Ville 2006 got off to a damp start on August 19th, but when the clouds parted, the cruisers rolled into Whetstone Park. Jim Toronto (right) touches up his 33 Ford Coupe was one of the cruisers who didn't let a little sprinkle stop him.

“Our first year in the new venue was certainly a success, “ said Brenda Pinnell, 2006 Cruise the Ville Chairperson.  “The Park is such a great setting,  it gave us the opportunity to try some new things.”

One of those new things was the first “Clintonville Idol” contest.  A panel of celebrity judges named Krista Dearth winner of the event.  In addition to the idol contest, Clintonville’s Arnett Howard, MC, and John Schwab of McGuffy Lane kept the crowd entertained through out the afternoon.

Eighteen Clintonville area restaurants and businesses were part of the expanded Taste of Clintonville and Business Showcase

One of the day’s highlights was a demo by the 614 Lowriders. After awarding of  50 trophies,  including the “People’s Choice” trophy to the ‘66 Dodge of Jeremy Orcutt, the cruisers  hit the streets of Clintonville for the annual Super Cruise.

The big winner for the event was the 10TV Family Fund, which benefits needy families in central Ohio.  Cruise Chair Pinnell presented a check for $1210 to 10 TV’s  John Fortney.
