  In January of 2008, the Clintonville Area Commission entered into an agreement with the City of Columbus, Department of Development for the development of a "Clintonville Neighborhood Plan" to be completed within the year.   The Chamber has set up this special page on our web site to help Clintonville business follow this process and to provide business input into the Plan.  The key elements of the plan are to include the following:

A Neighborhood Plan:

• Assists a neighborhood to reach consensus on development related goals and standards that are consistent with city policies.
   

• Focuses on land use and urban design policies that will serve as a basis for evaluating development proposals.
   

• Builds upon existing land use recommendations, highlights development opportunities, and outlines how development principles may be applied.
   

• Develops conceptual designs for one or more sites.
   

• Establishes priorities for capital improvements and other public investments.
   

• Provides guidance on implementation.
   

• Addresses key issues including development density and design.
   

• Builds on existing transportation elements by developing plans and identifying priority issues.
   

• Does not address safety, code enforcement, or other community development related issues.

     A working committee was appointed by Clintonville Area Commission members to work with the City staff in the plan's development.  This committee is comprised of  Clintonville residents and business owners with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. (Page down for committee list.)

     The first "Public Workshop" regarding the plan was held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Bishop Watterson High School.  Over 200 people attended. (Historically, the average attendance at these types of meetings is 30-50).   The purpose of this first Public Workshop was to identify issues that are important to Clintonville.  The results of this meeting will be posted on the City web site in the near future.
